Banking

Monday, June 26, 2006
I need some feedback on which bank to switch to. I currently use a credit union here in Mesquite, but I want to switch to have better access to ATMs and things in Norman. I have narrowed it down to three banks I know have locations in Norman, and from what I can tell they each have comprable savings and checking account options.

What I need is feedback if you have had experience with any of the following banks or for you Norman people, if you have anything to say about the branches or ATMs in your town.

My choices:

Citibank
Bank of America
Chase

For example, in college my roomates repeatedly had instances where Wells Fargo would send them letters saying: "We are writing to inform you that we have had a breach of our security that might include your personal information, some computers were stolen from our Atlanta offices. Oops. Have a nice day."

PLEASE give me advice.

What's a shopgirl to do

I am no longer a student, coed, or young adult. I am a single adult female. Now will someone tell me where I'm supposed to shop for clothes???

Today I went with my mom to get a new pair of jeans. She agreed to buy me a pair in exchange for not wearing my favorite jeans which have a couple of holes in unfortunate areas that keep reappearing even if she sews them shut.

Our first mistake was going to Town East Mall. That place is the ghetto and has almost exclusively skank stores when it comes to women's or unisex clothing. After a few glances around the avaliable stores inside, we headed to Dilliards. This is where the main dilemma came. Where do I fall? I can't wear Juniors anymore and the Misses section seems too old still. And I couldn't even find a petite section.

Other stores I love like Banana Republic and J. Crew are going to be way too expensive for this cowgirl next year. I guess there is always the GAP, but who wants to be constantly running into people always wearing the same clothes as you. Of course, none of this would be a problem if next year I could easily wear what constitutes half my wardrobe: T-shirts of my alma mater. Sometimes I feel like God is laughing at me. Good one Jesus, good one.

A List

  • Tuesday - Mavericks Lost
    Wednesday - Rangers Lost
Thursday - USA Eliminated from World Cup

Not a good week for my sports allegiances.

  • My grandmas and I went to see Les Miserables tonight, which made m cry from almost beginning to end again. Such a great presentation. The story is so compelling. Dang.

  • I cut my hair. Short. With bangs. I look like Thelma from Scooby Doo. And I like it.

  • I'm thinking about maybe putting a status bar in the sidebar to indicate where I am with support raising... like a little bar graph percentage thing. Would anyone care to see something like that?

Don't Stutter

Looks like I will be involved a little bit with the youth group again this summer. I am excited because I'll get to work with some of the girls I worked with 3 summers ago.... they have gotten so much older!! Anyway, I don't know exactly what I'll do... probably some discipling and encouragement and lots of hanging out.

Mavs lost in a heartbreaker of a game. I was so depressed when I woke up this morning (and not just because I actually woke up in the morning). They still have two games. I still have hope. We are now "15 strong" again like the Heat. Here is a great Avery clip from after the game:

Awwwwwwwwkward. I love you Avery!

A New Look

I changed it again. I am getting a little obsessed with figuring out html, even though I am still really bad at it.

Costa Rica was great... I will post some pictures from our trip soon. If you are super anxious you can go to the Flikr link, some of them are already posted on there. I hurt my finger on the zipline canopy tour, but I was really brave I think.

We are late for church now.

Money Money Money

Wednesday, June 07, 2006
I've been busy raising support this past week. I have been trying to be productive and make some calls/appointments, but I also feel this anxiety to want to wait until after I get back from Costa Rica. I guess I don't want the conversation to go something like this:

"Hi this is Brittany, I'm going to be an intern with OU RUF, would you be willing to meet with me sometime soon to talk about my plans?"
"Well, sure I would. How about sometime this next week?"
"Actually this week isn't good, I am going on an exotic vacation in Central America. Could we meet the week after next? Then I can simultaneously talk about how I am in desperate need of your financial support and flaunt my Caribbean sun-kissed skin and pedicured toes."

Go Mavs!
